■ Research Summary
Our research theme is understanding how genes are posttranscriptionally regulated. Genes are regulated by two ways; transcriptional and posttranscriptional. Posttranscriptional gene regulation is performed by binding of RNA-binding proteins or microRNA to non-translated region (UTR). We have been interested in posttranscriptional regulation of genes which are associated cancer development and metastasis.
We recently investigate (1) regulation of cancer-related genes (PDCD4, PTEN) by RNA-binding proteins (2) cooperative gene regulation by RNA-binding proteins and microRNAs (3) control of microRNA biogenesis by RNA-binding proteins (4) functions of metastatic tissue-specific genes and microRNAs using Xenograft model. Finally we hope our results provide a new paradigm for cancer therapy and contribute to human health.
