■ Research objective
A key research area of our group involves the cancer genomics and organoids in genitourinary cancers, particularly advanced kidney and prostate cancers. We have multiple efforts that establish the patient-derived cancer organoid platform and emphasize the clinical application of cancer genomics data with massively parallel sequencing analysis. We are actively expanding our efforts in discovering the novel mechanisms of response and resistance to promising cancer therapies, such as immune checkpoint inhibitors and AR targeting agents, by using patients molecular profiling. Our research group is focused on the translational research with future clinical application, rather than pure basic science. ■ Research interests In our laboratory, we have been conducting various projects of translational cancer research, particularly in advanced kidney cancer and prostate cancer. Currently, cancer genomics and cancer organoid are the main research topics of our lab, particularly by using patient-derived tissues. We are also performing several collaborating studies with interesting research topics, such as tumor-infiltrating T cells (TILs) as an immuno-oncology for exploring the mechanisms of treatment response/ resistance of immune checkpoint inhibitors, as well as circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) as a liquid biopsy for discovering a novel biomarker to predict drug responsiveness in patients with metastatic kidney and prostate cancers. 1)Cancer Genomics Our research group has enormous efforts that emphasize the integration of various sequencing data for multiple purposes. This includes expanding our understanding of how functional genomic alterations mediate the response or resistance to novel cancer therapies, such as immune-check point inhibitors and AR targeting agents. Our efforts can drive personalized medicine in patients with advanced kidney and prostate cancer. 2)Cancer organoid A key research interest in our lab involves the cancer organoid from patients with advanced kidney and prostate cancer, particularly who are treated by existing and emerging cancer drugs. Our group is actively expanding these efforts across various clinical scenarios, including response/resistance to immune-check point inhibitors and novel AR targeting agents. ■ Contact   m79.kang@skku.edu (or dr.minyong.kang@gmail.com) |
